Black Dyke Band Cancellation Sun 20.12.09

A copy of the letter sent out on 23rd December to all customers affected by the cancellation of the above event...

Cancellation of the Black Dyke Concert

Due to the adverse weather conditions on Sunday 20th December, we had to make the difficult decision of cancelling the Black Dyke Band’s Christmas Concert at Huddersfield Town Hall.

Many of our staff, customers and also some performers were unable to get to the venue due to heavy snowfall in the Huddersfield area. I appreciate this has caused disappointment for all, but the safety of our customers, performers and staff is always uppermost.

Over the past few days we have been working closely with the band to try and re arrange the concert. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a date when both band and venue are mutually available. Our sincere apologies that therefore, we will not be able to go ahead with this popular event this year.

Refunds will be available from Tuesday 5th January 2010 and can be made by post or preferably in person.

Postal Refunds
Please return the tickets to one of the addresses listed below and ensure that your telephone number and contact details are on the tickets.

In Person
Please bring your tickets along with the original payment card to one of our box offices, listed below, where your money will be refunded.

Finally, all the team from Huddersfield Town Hall would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Yours faithfully,

As the news was announced that ABBA will finally join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the United States, tickets went on sale for BJÖRN AGAIN for Wednesday 10 March 2010 at Huddersfield Town Hall.

For a great night out BJÖRN AGAIN are hard to beat. With their authentic recreation of this legendary group they're sure to get everyone on their feet singing along to classics such as Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Waterloo and many, many more hits.

BJÖRN AGAIN was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne, Australia by Director and Musician Rod Stephen. His show, not labelled a copy or tribute band, but seen as a satirical parody of ABBA and a brand in it's own right, rapidly achieved worldwide cult status. Rod's production company bjornagain.com, based in North London, employs professional session singers and musicians and has grossed £35 Million from 3,500 performances in 50 countries in 21 years in the Northern Hemisphere.

Original ABBA member Agnetha Fältskog went to see the show and gave the group her stamp of approval, "It was a great show. I loved the choreography, it was very true to life. When do you play your next shows? Good Luck for the tour," - praise indeed!

Having been endorsed by ABBA's blonde vocalist Agnetha Fältskog the ultimate aim, as always for Rod, is to keep his brand at the top and continue for as long as people want to see and hear ABBA's songs performed the way BJÖRN AGAIN does them, hopefully for another 20 years!
BJÖRN AGAIN - 2010 Here we go Again features ABBA's hits and songs from Mamma Mia together with the legendary voice of host Tony Blackburn playing all the UK hits of 1988.

This is the greatest party night out for everyone of all ages.

Tickets are on sale now priced at £18.50 and are available from Kirklees Box Offices, tel: 01484 223200 / 01484 222444 / 01924 324501.

HUDDERSFIELD CHORAL SOCIETY
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December 7.30pm
@ Huddersfield Town Hall
Ticket prices range from £8 to £28.

Extra tickets have been released for these two festive concerts featuring Brian Kay who returns as conductor and presenter, Hepworth Band and the Australian soprano soloist Martene Grimson.

There’s a good mix of well-loved favourites and some new pieces - notably two lovely items by John Rutter: ‘Esta noche’ (This night), a traditional Spanish carol - sung in Spanish - and his own ‘I wish you Christmas’.

The Hepworth band are new guests for The Choral, and they’re bringing a fresh selection of seasonal tunes - including some more John Rutter arrangements just for the band. Darius Battiwalla is at the organ and piano.

Martene Grimson is singing some items with the choir - including Harold Darke’s beautiful setting of ‘In the bleak midwinter’ - and her own solo contributions include ‘The Holy City’ and ‘The Star of Bethlehem’, both by Stephen Adams, and two well-known Handel arias.

New Show - Jimmy Carr Fri 19th March 2010!

Tickets: £20.50 and £22.50
Ticket office: 01484 223200 / 01484 222444 / 01924 324501

Huddersfield Town Hall are delighted to announce that Jimmy Carr will be coming to our venue on Friday March 19 2010, catch him whilst he's in town!

One of the most original and distinctive stars on television, radio and the stage, Jimmy has enjoyed several hugely successful years; this year being no exception. In addition to his much applauded appearances on our screens, his fourth live stand-up DVD, In Concert, topped the charts over Christmas and his sell out 200 date tour, Joke Technician, is still going strong.

A true masterclass in comedy, no one writes sharper jokes or commands the audience better than Jimmy. With his machine gun fast delivery, he walks a fine line with truly outrageous gags all successfully carried off by crediting his audience with enough intelligence to be in on the joke and able to keep up. To quote Jimmy, ‘a woman came up to me last year after a show and said "that was disgusting, puerile - no better than last year." I guess some people just like being offended.’

‘Devastating, tasteless two-liners that are bliss to listen to… Carr’s persona is irresistible and his wisecracks have you quivering with satisfaction,’ Guardian.
